Yoga Therapy Explained
Have you ever been to a Yoga studio with large mirrors and blasting beats, dripping sweat while trying to fold yourself into pretzel-like shapes? For many of us, this or a similar experience might have been our first introduction to the ancient practice called Yoga. While it can certainly be a fun and transformative experience, physical postures called Asanas are only one part of the whole. We are complex beings and therefore it is essential to include other aspects on our journey to a healthy, wholesome life as well. Examples of these aspects are our mental and emotional state, our spiritual life, the way we connect with ourselves, our relationships and daily rituals and so much more.
Yoga has been recognized as therapeutic for centuries and while it is not physical or psychological therapy or some life coaching program, you might discover in your sessions, that Yoga therapy includes elements of all the above.
It is a holistic practice, striving for inclusion of body, mind, and spirit to achieve unique and individualized goals.
There is an ever-increasing amount of research and scientific proof that Yoga can support individuals on their journey to health and wellbeing. Yoga therapy is an alternative healing modality that connects ancient Yoga with Western medicine and healthcare.

It combines the wealth of knowledge from an ancient tradition with modern science while addressing and drawing from the mindfulness and awareness that you already carry inside. We all have inherent wisdom about what our body, mind, and spirit need to live fully. Yoga therapy helps to tap into this knowledge with the support of tools and techniques from various practices including movement and posture, breath work and relaxation, mudra, and meditation.
Yoga therapy empowers us to create the change we want to see in our lives.
